Jordan Securities Commission (JSC)

1. What is the JSC?

The Jordan Securities Commission is the regulator of Jordan’s securities market. It oversees securities issuance and trading, as well as market participants within its remit. It aims to maintain fair markets and protect investors; banking and other financial sectors have separate competent authorities.

2. Key responsibilities

  • Regulating securities markets and securities-related businesses.
  • Overseeing market disclosures, trading conduct and compliance in investment services.
  • Taking regulatory and enforcement action under the law and publishing market information.

3. How to check a securities firm

Jordan JSC website: https://www.jsc.gov.jo/

  1. Look on the website for lists of licensed companies, brokers or market participants.
  2. Search by the company’s legal name and check the licence status, business type and restrictions.
  3. Use contact details published on the website to verify the party you are communicating with and the payment recipient.

4. Important points

Registration with the securities-market regulator does not mean that other financial activities are authorised. Do not rely solely on a company’s registration in Jordan or its claim to be regulated.

5. Official information

Consult the JSC’s latest announcements and public records.

6. How to check Jordanian securities regulatory records

The JSC focuses on securities markets and market participants within its statutory remit. Based on the business being offered, determine whether the other party claims to be a broker, investment adviser, asset manager or another type of securities-service provider, and review the relevant record for its current status and permitted activities. If the official register provides an Arabic name, cross-check the registration number, registered address and English name to avoid mistaking translation differences for a different company—or overlooking a different entity with a similar name.

Forex margin trading, banking, insurance and digital-asset services may be subject to different laws or competent authorities. A securities-market entry should not be taken to authorise all financial services. Confirm that the contracting company, operating website and payment recipient match. If the platform provides only a licence image, a group company’s name or an unrelated registration document, check directly with the JSC. Keep contracts, transaction records and payment receipts. A regulatory register helps verify an entity’s identity and permissions; it is not an endorsement of a product by the JSC.

Avoiding entity mix-ups when searching

Jordanian company names may appear in Arabic, English or transliteration. Assess search results using the registration number, registered address, legal form and licence category rather than relying only on a similar English name. Then verify the securities activities authorised, registration status and any suspension or other restrictions, and confirm that the permissions match the product being promoted.

If a platform provides forex, CFDs, payment or crypto-asset services, first establish whether those activities are regulated by the JSC or another authority. The contracting entity, website operator, payment company and JSC record should correspond. If the other party cannot provide a number that can be independently verified or asks for payment to an unrelated account, pause. Keep Arabic- or English-language contracts, remittance information and communications, and find formal enquiry or complaint channels through the JSC website.
